Here is episode 4 of Durarara!! This time around, we get to know the headless horsema– bike rider a little better.

You will also notice in the episode that they frequently mention something called a Dullahan. A Dullahan is, as the episode tells us, an old Irish fairy Legend. For more on that, click here.

Episode 3 is finally out.

Just a few TL notes for this episode. First of all, while watching, you’ll notice that Simon’s spoken dialog is written in broken English. Rest assured it is not because I am an incompetent editor, Simon speaks in “broken” Japanese and thus, I tried to bring that across… You will also notice that his narration is not in broken English. This is because if you listen carefully, his narration starts off in Russian then fades into Japanese. Obviously it means he is narrating it in “Russian”, and thus his grammar is perfect.

Next there is a reference to a place called Toranoana. Basically it’s a manga/anime related item store. For more info, click here.

Furthermore there is a reference to a “Flame Haze that’s sealed underground,” which in itself is a reference to Shakugan no Shana.

And finally, Izaya says something about “Kamaitachi the demon.” This is a reference to a weasel demon that attacks quickly with blades. Click here for more.

Episode 2 is out, and it was quite intriguing actually. I hope they keep it up in following episodes. The show so far really is deliciously… twisted…

As some of you know, we had quite a lot of issues with Durarara 01 after it was released, ranging from editing errors to timing errors, to typesetting errors. So much so, that some of the staff now believe it to be cursed. The point here is that we have learned from our mistakes, and will make an effort to avoid it happening with episode 2 and beyond, IE the future.

Anyway. enjoy the episode!

The Pandora Hearts specials are going A LOT slower than I had hoped for, but rest assured, we’ll get them done even if I have to swim to Japan, kidnap a translator and smuggle them back in a blimp/boat or train (not sure how I’m going to do it with a train though).

Guin Saga is still going strong. Weaker than usual, but still strong. Our GS editor promised said he’ll get GS12 done before this weekend, um, ends. So hopefully we can release that by Monday.

And so, Durarara episode 1 is finally out. The series is still brand new, and this episode mostly introduces the characters, but it does look pretty interesting. Without giving away too much, here is a very short synopsis (ok, more like a micro synopsis):

“Mikado Ryūgamine is a young man who longs for the exciting life of the big city. At the invitation of his childhood friend Masaomi, he transfers to a school in Ikebukuro where all sorts of adventures ensues.”

Think distorted love story with headless horsemen- err bike men, gangs and friends.

While you’re watching the episode, do keep in mind that in Japan a person is usually introduced by their surname first, and then their first name. Since the show is set in Japan, we are keeping all honorifics intact as well, so if you want to find out more about those, then follow this link.
